Trip to Jasper ...

3rd car test since our arrival in Banff ! Toyota Accent ... pretty cool !
Trip planed to Jasper : 280 km from Banff.
Jasper national park, established in 1907, is the biggest national park of the canadian rockies with 10878 square kms of wilderness.

1st step along the Icefiled Parkway : Mistaya Canyon formed by the river of the same name ...

Mistaya river, very powerful in this period of the year ...

UUUSSSSS ....

Saskatchewan river crossing ...

Sunwapta falls 60 km after mistaya canyon.

Finally, Athabasca falls are probably the most powerful falls in the canadian rockies. Athabasca headwaters comes from the Columbia Glacier about 70 km south.
Fall: 23 meters high / 18 meters width.

Be careful, french traductors are in the area ! I would suggest "sinueuse" or "chaotique" or "dégradée" or "attention aux gravillons" or "route endommagée, accidentée" .... qui dit mieux ?

Obviously, we had to go to see the tramway of Jasper. For us, we imagined something over rails but it was just a cablecar ! Awesome english !

Jasper main street ... just before a huge rain shower !

Canadian Pacific heritage in front of the railway station.

After lunch, we were supposed to visit Maligne Lake, 60 km east from Jasper but according to the bad weather, we decided to go back home earlier !

On the way back !
